In the Name of God Amen the xvith Day of June Anno Domii 1693 I John Nicholson of Sleapst[..] within the pish of Irton and county of Cumberland yeoman beinge in perfect minde and memory praised be God do make this my last will and testament in manner and forme ffollowinge. I give and bequeathe my soule into the hands of Almighty God and Christ Jesus my mercifull saviour and Redeemer. And my body to be buried in Decent and Christian Manner. And as for my Worldly goods and Estate I give and bequeathe the same as ffolloweth I give and bequeath unto my Sonne John Nicholson Six pounds and one Bedestead one table one dishbowl and one Grate in full satisfaction for his filliall parte and portion forth of my goods chattells and estate Item I give and bequeath unto my Grand Child Isaac Nicholson Tenn Shillings Item I give and bequeathe unto my daughter Elizabeth Beebby and her husband William Beebby fourty shillings in full satisfaction for their filliall parte and portion forth of any goods chatell chattell and estate Item I give and bequeath unto the said William Beebby foure youngest children six pounds to be keept and secured in the hands of my executors hereafter named either until the shall accomplish their several ages of one and twenty years or otherwise my Executors shall distribute the same amongst them when the see need for it and my Executors shall have liberty to divide the same amongst them foure as the thinks fitt and needfull Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jenett Caddy and her husband Christopher Caddy six pounds in full satisfaction for their filliall parte and portion forth of my goods chattells and estate Item I give and bequeath unto my Grand Child Jane Caddy forty shillings Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Richard Nicholson five pounds in full for his filliall parte and portion forth of my goos chattels rights credditts and estate Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne William Nicholson six pounds in full satisfaction for his filliall parte and portion forth of my goods chattells and estate And it is my will and mind that my saide Two sonnes Richard and William shall come themselves to receive their legacies herein by me given them And give my Executors a sufficient discharge for the same or otherwise the said legacies shall fall and redound to my Executors Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the pish of Irton twenty shillings to be reserved for their use in the poor stock of Irton Item I give Ten shillings to be given to the poore widdows and needfull poore of Irton at my funerall to the [discrishion] of my Executors Item I give unto James Braythwait and his three youngest children five shillings Item I give one shillinge six pence to mend the highwaye betwixt here and Santon Bridge And all the remainder and residue of my goods Chattells Rights Credditts and Estate I give and bequeath unto my Two sonnes Nicholas Nicholson and Henry Nicholson whom I ordaine and make whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament the payinge me Debts legacies and funerall expence only I define and appoint John Nicholson of Randalhow truly to see this my will pformed And for his [time] and paines therein I give unto him twenty shillings. this I declare to be my last will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the daye and yeare first above written.
